What is ROVR solving?
Traditional 3D mapping methods are expensive, slow, and difficult to scale. Legacy systems rely on centralized, purpose-built vehicles that can cost up to $500,000 and collect limited spatial data, restricting access to real-time, high-resolution maps for most companies and developers.
ROVR solves this by decentralizing 3D spatial data collection. Using LiDAR and RTK-enabled devices, contributors can generate centimeter-accurate, real-world 3D maps—crucial for autonomous vehicles, robotics, and spatial AI. What does it mean for you?
There are 2 ways to contribute – using either the Light Cone device or the TX. The light cone is the full embedded lidar + camera device that goes on the roof of your vehicle, while the TX allows you to contribute using your phone combined with a small, round puck that sits on your roof.
